Former National Legal Advisor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Mark Jacob, has accused Mr. Samuel Anyanwu of destroying the party.
Mr. Jacob said Mr. Anyangwu and his supporters knew that contesting the governorship and remaining in the position of national secretary was against the party’s constitution.
Naija News reported that the beleaguered Anyanwu returned to the Wadada headquarters of the PDP and regained his seat.
In an interview with Arise News on Monday, the PDP leader said Anyangwu and his supporters are planning to ridicule the main opposition party. He said the party was in trouble.
“First of all, let me say that our party is in dire straits, not because there is a serious attack from outside, but because individuals are fighting local battles and ignoring the larger battle. Because we are wasting energy, the goodwill of the party, the energy of the party, the goodwill and confidence of Nigerians is being wasted on individual platforms.
“For me, Anyangwu is a big joker. Every party member knows the constitutional position, so he should stop this act. At the same time, 2 You can’t hold one position and then be the party’s candidate for governor. It’s sacred and he knows it. All those around him or who support him are aware of that position. So what he is doing is shameful not only for himself, but for all of us who are members of the party. ” he said.
Anyangwu cannot disobey the Court of Appeal’s ruling
The former Attorney General and Attorney General of Kaduna State has said it was wrong for the 2023 PDP governorship candidate in Imo State to appeal the court’s judgment on his claim to the position of national secretary.
He advised his supporters not to be misled by the court’s ruling.
“When you’re talking about a High Court order, empowered to stay in the Chief Justice position, you can’t have that kind of talk when there’s a Court of Appeal judgment. It’s elementary. This law Anyone who knows that you can’t talk about the High Court when you have not only an interim decision but a judgment of the Court of Appeal, a judgment of the Court of Appeal. You can’t toy with that. I can’t even begin to tell you that I filed an appeal.
“Of course, you are free to appeal, but any lawyer knows that a declaratory judgment cannot be overturned. A court of appeals judgment that has made a specific declaration cannot be upheld. Even if he doesn’t know, his lawyers know. Perhaps they refuse to tell him, but the Supreme Court’s decision on this issue cannot be upheld. The verdict is very clear.
“So when he says he has appealed, I don’t know what he means. If you accept the position of the Court of Appeal, you should not engage in this kind of brigandage. “When you go in, you start to think you’re above the court, that you’re appointed by the same court. That’s strange,” he said.
Apart from Atiku and Peter Obi, Tinubu has no opponents.
Jacob, who was appointed PDP National Legal Adviser in 2007, said that apart from Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, former presidential candidates of the PDP and Labor Party. There will be no opposition to the All Progressives Congress (APC) government led by President Bola Tinubu.
He said the people were still suffering from the destruction of the PDP by Anyangwu and his supporters.
“So, to me, Anyangwu and his followers know exactly what they are doing. , making it impossible for us to overcome the current problems we have. And Nigeria is being lied to.
“We don’t have a similar opposition to the ruling government. So the government in power is free to do what it wants. There is no one to oppose the government. Every policy of the government is unchallenged except by a few voices from the PDP and former presidential candidates of the Labor Party.It is therefore sad that the PDP does not and cannot play its role. Because Anyangwu and his cronies are willing to weaken the party,” he added.
