The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Rivers State Governor Siminarayi Hubara to “continue to challenge President Bola Tinubu, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike and the judiciary over the recent suspension of judgment.” He called on the government to stop what it called "intimidation." State Allocation.
APC emphasized that “emotions cannot trump facts in front of the law.”
At a press conference in Abuja on Friday, Rivers APC Chairman, Tony Okocha criticized Governor Hubara’s approach, insisting that it would not restore his political status.
Mr. Okocha accused Mr. Hubala of trying to manipulate public opinion in response to a court ruling that blocked federal allocations to Rivers State citing unresolved issues.
He said, “Wike led Hubala to where it is today. He took him from obscurity to the political pinnacle. No one is suffocating anyone. It takes place in the Hubbara Hall.”
According to him, if Governor Hubala had complied with President Tinubu’s intervention, the political crisis in Rivers would have since ended.
When asked for a solution, the APC interim chairman said the governor must abide by the laws of the land, including the state budget law.
“Articles 120, 121 and 122 clearly address this question regarding the budget.
“As a political party, the All Progressives Congress, we support and support the court’s decision, because the court affects civil society, and it is a court, not one person’s morality. .
“We also use this opportunity to oppose attempts to denigrate innocent people. Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister. Of all the cases before the courts, he “There are about 32 cases in which I am not a party. Why are you bringing in the president?” he asked.
On recent attempts by some stakeholders and elders in the Niger Delta to reconcile the gladiators of the Rivers crisis, Mr. Okocha said such a move was already overdue.
He added: “I say it’s foolish for anyone to cry when they lose their minds. There’s also a saying that you shouldn’t cry over spilled milk.
“Where were these elders? Where? To me, the question is narrowing down, because the only hurdle to escape is the Supreme Court.
“If the elders really want to come, what are they doing here at this late hour? What are they coming for? These are the same people who called him a know-it-all and a jack-of-all-trades and encouraged the governor to believe his head was bigger than a pillow.
“They said to him, look, your power is flexible, what can’t you do?” And the governor agreed with that, and today the Ikwerre man, the one who came to plan your building. I said not everyone will be a part of that building.
“”no. Many of them disappeared into thin air. At that time, they came to advise the governor against the decision he had signed. And the governor is in the hot seat. So I tell you, I don’t think it’s too late to work.
“But I hope so. We want peace, simple. You see, the only way to bring peace is to obey the law.”
