The All Progressives Congress (APC) reportedly bringing together northern political leaders for President Volatinub’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 poll, saying former Kaduna Governor Nasir He criticizes Elrufai.
APC Secretary of State Ajibola Basiru accused El-Rufai of pushing the ethnic agenda after failing to secure the appointment of ministers in Tinubu’s administration. He was initially nominated for Cabinet position, but the Parliament refused to appoint a security guard.
According to Naija News, El-Rufai recently held meetings with various northern politicians, including the former vice president and the 2023 People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar. Last Friday he joined Atik’s aide on a sad dol’s visit to the family of Edwin Clark, an elder politician in the Niger Delta.
During the visit, El Rufai praised Atik’s contribution to economic reform during the Orsegun Obasanjo administration.
“No one gives Alhaji Atiku Abubakar a credit for economic policy decisions under Obasanjo’s administration. Much of what we did was under his leadership. Maybe we wrote about it We tend to forget because we don’t and people don’t read history. We only remember negative things. Maybe it’s part of humanity,” he said.
After Abyss Dol’s visit, El Rufai and Atik together observed Juma’s prayer. The next day he met with the PDP’s Kaduna State Executive Committee at a closed meeting, spurring speculation about a potential political restructuring ahead of the 2027 election.
Just 24 hours later, he visited former APC national president Abdullahi Adam at his residence in Kefhi, Nasarawa. The visit was revealed by X user @UI_Wakili.
“Malam Nasir El Rufai visited former APC president Abdullahi Adam today in Kefhi’s residence,” he said, accompanied by Malam Bashir Saidhu and Adamawa dujima.
Adam, who resigned as APC chairman in July 2023, is believed to have fallen out with Tinubu.
El Rufai has recently criticised the APC and accused them of a lack of internal democracy, noting that party organs have not been convened in the past two years. Two weeks ago, he shared an opinion piece by social commentator Ushu Diara, which compared it to the situation that worsened Tinubu’s relationship with the North, leading to former President Goodluck Jonathan’s election defeat in 2015. I warned.
According to Punch, APC’s national chief, Basil, dismissed El Rufai’s political manipulation and described him as an “overrated ethnic champion” who competed with each other.
He said: “For Nigerian parties, it is a free exit and free entry. Therefore, anyone can finish at will if he wants to leave. However, for now there is no dignity to such a move in the comments.
“We understand that section politics is something that makes some people check. Unfortunately, he (El Rufai) doesn’t think about the development of the country, but he does not consider the agenda of ethnic nationality. It’s taking away. This Southern and Northern stance shows that he is overrated as a person.”
Basir added that political appointments are not birthrights and should not lead to political upset if they cannot secure a government position.
“There are over 180 million Nigerians and a considerable number of Nigerians are eligible. Without the opportunity to serve the government, it doesn’t mean you’re trying to become an emergency activist,” Osun said. The politician said.
He also said that Tinubu’s new hope agenda is bringing results by citing Naira’s enhancement and lowering fuel and food prices.
Meanwhile, the PDP shows openness to working with Elrufai and other dissatisfied politicians to challenge the APC in 2027.
Debo Ologunagba, PDP national propaganda secretary, said El-Rufai, who was on both parties, understands what he now truly respects the rule of law.
PDP Chieftian said: “Our party membership comes from wards and local governments, and the party is open with free entry and exits.
“We already have the PDP as the only political party in the true interests of those who are willing to work with our constitution, to place people first and respect our policies and the rule of law. Established. We.
He added that the PDP is a party of principles that provides opportunities for all Nigerians.
Ologunagba said: “This party has been around since 1998 and continues to be strong. The foundations of this party are peace, democracy, the rule of law, people’s rights and the improvement of Nigerian lives.”
