Partial results of the local government elections in Cross River State have been revealed, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning eight seats.
Based on the results already announced for the November 2 election, the APC has so far won eight local government areas.
According to Naija News, LGAs already won by APC include: Abi, Akamukpa, Akpabio, Bakassi, Bekwara, Etun, Obudu, Odukpani.
This was confirmed on Sunday by the Chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), Ekong Boko.
Announcing the results, Mr. Boko told reporters at the CROSIEC headquarters in Calabar that the APC candidate for Abi LGA, Mr. Egbala Bassey, won in Abi Local Government Area with 26,265 votes.
In Akamukpa LGA, Akpoji Felix of APC won with 53,882 votes while in Akpabio LGA, Effiom Effiong, also of APC, won with 25,164 votes.
In Bakassi LGA, Mr. Okon Etim of APC won with 12,117 votes while Mr. Ushie Teresa of APC won the Bekwara LGA chairmanship with 31,551 votes.
In Etung Local Government Area, Mr Henry Njah won with 18,727 votes while Mr Peter Andiandai was declared the winner with 112,654 votes.
In Odukpani Local Government Area, Etim Asideo was declared the winner with 41,368 votes.
The CROSIEC chairman said the delay in announcing the results was due to the difficult terrain across the state, especially the long distance to the state capital and poor roads in some places.
