The All Progressives Congress (APC) won all 23 local government chairperson seats in the local government elections held in Benue on Saturday.
The Chairman of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), Richard Tombowa, announced the results in Makurdi on Sunday.
Tombowa said the APC also won all 276 seats in the state.
He said the elections, which were held at all 5,102 polling stations in the state, were held across 276 parliamentary districts in 23 local governments.
He said the results submitted by election officials in the 23 local governments showed that the APC won all the seats that were hotly contested by five other political parties.
“A total of eight political parties participated in the elections but only five actually participated: APC, APGA, LP, PDP and SDP.
“No municipality has had a candidate returned unopposed. Every municipal election is contested in the same way as a ward council,” he said.
