The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the recently concluded Edo State election, Asue Ighodaro, has called on the judiciary to remain impartial.
They called for those responsible for the fraud in the gubernatorial election to be punished.
The PDP stalwart said this in his Independence Day message to the people of the state.
The statement was released by Team Asue Media Organization (TAMO) and signed on Tuesday by Elhabor Emokpae of Benin City.
The PDP governorship candidate also appealed to Nigerians to remain undaunted despite the numerous challenges Nigeria has faced since achieving independence from Britain in 1960.
He said the judiciary must remain resolute and impartial as it prepares to deal with what he described as the most brazen election theft in Nigeria’s democratic history since 1999.
“I stand before you with a heavy heart but with unyielding determination as we celebrate the 64th Independence Day of our great nation. This year’s celebrations have come a long way from the recent times that have left many disappointed. is characterized by events.
“The unprecedented election robbery we witnessed is a stark reminder of the struggles our ancestors faced for the rights and freedoms we cherish today.
“My supporters in Edo State and across the country, I urge you to stay the course. Our journey towards a prosperous Edo and a better Nigeria is not yet over.
“Every challenge we encounter is just a stepping stone towards realizing our dream of a just, just and just society.”
“Let us not be deterred by the shadow it casts on our collective aspirations. Instead, under the banner of integrity, resilience and the unwavering belief that the will of the people must prevail, Let’s unite.
