National Youth Deputy Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Timothy Osadore, has blamed former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar for the internal crisis that threatens the party’s unity ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In an interview with Punch in Abuja, Mr. Osadore criticized Mr. Atiku’s leadership approach, claiming that despite his vast experience, he has failed to provide the necessary guidance to lead the PDP towards unity.
Mr. Osadore said Mr. Atiku’s leadership flaws have left the party divided and struggling to find a unified direction.
He said, “People may realize that Nyesom Wike is the problem, but the biggest problem in PDP today is Atiku Abubakar.
“Between Wike and Atiku, the former vice president is a better and more experienced politician.
“Naturally, he is supposed to provide leadership to Wike and the rest of the PDP. But he needs to ask himself whether he is capable of providing that kind of leadership.
“The sooner Atiku realizes that one tree alone does not make a forest, the better it will be for all of us. You have your people, I have my people, you have my people. It’s not that we expect to win.
“Politics is a game of marriage of numbers and interests. It is not enough to run a campaign every four years and fire up a very powerful campaign machine.
“Before every election cycle, several processes take place to demonstrate that the party is election ready in the eyes of Nigerians.
“Among the governors in the south, I am sure that Governor Seyi Makinde has the potential to have such a person in office, but he has not publicly said that he is interested in anyone.
“If former President Jonathan wants to throw himself into the ring outside the PDP Governors Forum, there is ample opportunity.
“It’s not a question of north or south. It’s a question of unity that can bring victory to the party.”
