The Bauchi State Health Contribution Management Agency (BASCHEMA) has announced that it has enrolled 52,000 staff members into the scheme to enhance the delivery of quality health services. The agency’s Director-General, Alhaji Ibrahim Inuwa, said this in an interview with newsmen in Bauchi on Monday.
He said registrants include state and local government employees and are expected to begin accessing the service in October 2024.

Inuwa said medical services would be provided to dependents of enrollees at the same time, adding that the three-month reduction was made as part of the program’s prerequisites.
He listed health service providers including Bauchi Specialist Hospital, 26 general hospitals, all accredited primary health care centers and private hospitals in the state.
He said the agency will disburse funds to health facilities to facilitate the smooth operation of the program and that effective monitoring and evaluation measures are being adopted to ensure quality service delivery. added.
Inuwa said the service would also cover surgeries and diabetes, adding that the agency plans to enroll 2,000 women suffering from viscous vaginal fistula (VVF).
He said the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) also plans to enroll 10,000 vulnerable children and women in the scheme.
