Controversial Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has finally left the country after several arrests.
The flamboyant social media personality was dramatically arrested on Thursday night at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos as he was about to board a KLM flight bound for Amsterdam, TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports. .
He was then taken to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja for questioning on suspicion of bribing EFCC officials to get previous money laundering charges dropped.
The EFCC arrest came shortly after the social media personality was detained by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) at the Seme border for attempting to leave the country.
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into serious allegations that Bobrisky paid EFCC officials N15 million to have money laundering charges dropped.
The allegations stemmed from an audio memo shared by social media commentator Martins Otse, also known as Very Dark Man, in which Bobrisky offered EFCC officials NOK 15 million to stop the charges. He is said to have claimed that he paid for it.
However, late on Friday night, Bobrisky was said to have completed the necessary formalities and was released on bail.
During questioning, Bobrisky vehemently denied all bribery claims, disputed the authenticity of the audio notes and demanded that the individuals responsible for posting them provide evidence, the people said.
In a recent development, Bobrisky shared a video of himself on a plane via his Instagram Story with the caption, “See you soon, Nigeria.”
