Developer Discovery: Chaos creates focus
I have a quick question here. How do people stay focused on multiple tasks? Not everyone can multitask. I can only focus on one thing at a time. Having too many things to do at once can be stressful. Many people feel anxious because of this.
But Mayowa’s case is different. He claims that multitasking has made him more focused. what? I’m just as perplexed as you.
Only 2.5% of people are truly able to multitask, as cognitive efficiency decreases as we take on more tasks. Unexpectedly, Oluwanifemi discovered a true genius!
Although he has only three years of experience as a developer, he has managed to organize his tasks in a way that suits him. Because he is focused on completing these tasks, he does not interact much with his co-workers until after work.
One thing that can be inferred about him is his utmost dedication and love for his work. But even with that kind of work ethic, he says, coding isn’t the only thing he wants to do. Mayowa plans to start her own business because she likes solving problems.
With his unique experience as a developer, Mayowa shares three surprising lessons he learned on the job.
Oluwanifemi’s story reveals the life of a Nigerian developer. He experienced workplace PTSD and lost a promising job in a foreign country after the interviewer recognized his nationality, work-life balance, and drive to solve problems.

African Finance Corporation (AFC) has partnered with Nigerian digital management company Itana to develop Africa’s first digital economy zone.
The first phase, worth $100 million, is already underway with PwC Nigeria, Future Africa and Charter Cities Institute and will advocate for the Advancement of Digital Free Zones in Nigeria (DIFZIN).
With over 2,000 digital members ready to collaborate, this phase includes the construction of a Nigerian tech campus designed to accommodate over 5,000 students.
Why should we care? The initiative aims to strengthen the company’s commitment to building a thriving hub for Africa’s digital economy and fostering innovation, job creation and sustainable economic development across Africa.
Since its founding, Itana has secured $2 million in investment and aims to launch a one-stop-shop app for company registration and business banking, as well as enable visa processing and tax filing services.
Additionally, companies that register as free zone companies with Itana are exempt from key tax requirements such as corporate income tax, value-added tax, and import duties on physical products.
