A Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki has declared all parliaments held by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State null and void.
The ruling targets party-sponsored districts, local governments and state assemblies.
In the decision in the case numbered FHC/AI/CS/183/2024, Hon. Nnenna Lynda Udeh & 12 Others v. PDP & Another, the Court found that Parliament was unconstitutional.
Additionally, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the second defendant in the case, to recognize for any purpose the officers allegedly elected during the annulled parliament. Forbidden.
Meanwhile, Doyin Okupe, former Executive Secretary of Peter Obi Presidential Electoral Council, has denied saying that President Bola Tinubu is not certain to win the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement on Monday, Okupe said his words were taken out of context by those seeking to misinform the public and sow discord within the regime.
The former presidential spokesperson maintained that he remains a staunch supporter of President Tinubu’s administration and believes in Tinubu’s ability to turn the situation around in Nigeria, adding that the president is not responsible for the current predicament Nigeria is experiencing. He claimed that there was no such thing.
According to him, if North Korea backs former President Goodluck Jonathan, or if there is a joint ticket between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, Tinubu’s path will end in 2027. His claim that this is what he meant was deliberately taken out of context, he said.
