The Court of Appeal in Enugu accepted the argument of Hon. Simon Atigwe’s removal from the House of Representatives.
Naija News reports that the court’s verdict upheld the previous decision rendered by the Election Petitions Tribunal against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representative.
Therefore, the court justified the selection of John Johnson to the court. Dennis Nnamdi Agbo of the Labor Party (LP) has won the re-election for Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency held on February 3, 2024.
The judgment was handed down unanimously by a three-member committee, and its chairman, Judge Ekanem, read out the judgment.
Labor Party lawyer Ifeanyi Ogeni corroborated this information in a post on Wednesday.
“Congratulations to the people of Igbo Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency.
“The wheels of justice turn slowly but sharply. No matter how long we wait, truth and justice have won. Dennis Agbo has won!” Ogenyi wrote.
It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Atigwe as the winner of the re-election.
However, although Mr. Agbo initially secured victory in the elections held on February 25, 2023, he was later removed from office by the Court of Appeal, who filed suit in court to challenge Mr. Atigwe’s declaration.
He ultimately succeeded in this challenge and prevailed in the Court of Appeals.
