British-Nigerian rapper and singer Darkoo (real name Oluwafisayo Isa) has caused a stir on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
In a series of viral tweets, the “Favorite Girl” singer accused Peter Okoye, also known as Mr. P of defunct famous music duo P-Square, of trying to sabotage her latest music video “Focus on Me.” accused of doing so.
This video was removed from YouTube for 6 days due to copyright claims. Ms. Darkoo said Mr. P pressured her to feature on the song, but she refused. She explained that she had all legal permissions for the samples used in the song and followed all necessary regulations before releasing it. She added that she would be open to collaborating with Mr. P on remixes in the future, but not on the original version.
“I didn’t want to talk about this, but my music video was taken down for 6 days by Peter from Psquare for trying to ruin the song. Thankfully it’s back up now. Let me be clear. “But I got all the necessary permissions for the sample. I’ve done this before and made sure everything was done properly,” Darkoo said in one tweet. I wrote this.
Mr Darkoo also noted that Ms P’s twin brother Paul Okoye (Rude Boy) and her older brother Jude Okoye supported her during the matter. Jude, who is well known in the Nigerian music industry, helped her resolve the issue and Paul encouraged her to keep moving forward.
Fans have various reactions to this situation. Some supported Darkoo standing her ground and defending her work, while others believed she could have handled the matter privately. Many also called for a better way to resolve disputes in the music industry to avoid public debate that could damage reputations.
