Motunrayo Charles, the daughter of late veteran Nollywood actor, Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu popularly known as Agbako, has shared her last moments with her father.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reported that the veteran actor passed away on Thursday, October 31, at his Oniboku residence in Atan Ota, Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, at the age of 101 years and was buried at the cemetery. The same day according to Islamic rituals.
In a recent interview, Motunrayo recalled how her father died in her arms at home, contrary to some reports that he died on the set of a movie.
She said: “He died in my arms. After giving him a bath, I sat him in a chair and brushed his teeth. Then I gave him water to rinse his mouth and he became quiet. I took him to bed and gave him the tea I had prepared, but when I tried to drink it, I spilled the tea. I had never experienced that before. Then I called for help. People say he died on set, but he died in my arms on the bed. .”
Motunrayo also begged the government to do right by her family, saying she had to give up her acting career to care for her father in his old age.
She added: “The government should do whatever it deems appropriate for the family. But people who have cared for the elderly, as I have, should understand that they cannot do anything else. He is also an actor, but he didn’t go anywhere for four years because he needed nursing care. So, the family should be taken care of, and the people who took care of Baba should also be taken care of.”
