The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to warn Asue Igbodaro to warn his supporters not to disrupt court proceedings.
Edo APC alleged that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party was planning to use thugs loyal to him to invade the premises of the court and destroy the peaceful atmosphere of the court.
The APC youths said any attempt by thugs allegedly linked to Asue Ighodaro to disrupt the work of the court would be met with strong resistance.
They stressed that Edo voters have already made their decision clear at the polling stations by voting for Governor Okpeboro on Monday.
They said any attempt to seize power through the back door would be met with stiff resistance.
Kelly Okunbowa, a member of the youth wing of the ruling APC, said: “We are using this medium to urge the IGP to order PDP candidates and ensure that there will be consequences for any unruly behavior. We are calling on people to let them know that this will occur.” We appeal to him to ensure that the rule of law is upheld and court proceedings are protected from unruly behavior. ”
Mr Monday Irabor, the youth leader of the party, also spoke, stressing that the PDP should be careful not to disturb the peace.
“Our democracy thrives on order and respect for the judicial process. We believe in our electoral choices and will not sit idly by as intimidation tactics are used against us. No. We called on the PDP and its candidates to follow their demands and take the path to peace and let the courts decide their fate.”
The APC youths reiterated their commitment to a peaceful and fair electoral process and readiness to defend the democratic rights of Edo citizens.
