Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s Special Assistant on Digital Media Strategy, Demola Olarewaju, has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Bianca Ojukwu as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Naija News reports that in a major cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, President Tinubu appointed Ambassador Bianca along with six others as a new Cabinet member subject to Senate confirmation.
The ministerial candidates are: Dr. Nentawe Yilwatoda (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction). Muhammadu Dinyadi (Labour and Employment); Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (State Foreign Affairs), and Dr. Jumoke Oduwole (Industry, Trade and Investment).
Others include Mr. Idi Mukhtar Maiha (livestock development), Mr. Yusuf Ata (provincial, housing and urban development), and Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad (provincial education).
Many interpret the appointment of the late Biafra leader’s widow as Tinubu’s strategy to increase support in the southeast.
In a statement on his X-handle, Olalenwaju warned that Bianca will not help Tinubu win votes from the South-East in 2027 as she has zero electoral value.
He said not a single voter in the South East region would switch to support Tinubu because of Bianca’s appointment.
According to him, Bianca’s appointment is nothing more than a ploy by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig the 2027 elections.
Part of the statement reads: “First of all, understand that Tinubu is nothing if not political. Everything he does is about power. If he was against subsidies in 2012; Power. If he supports it in 2024, it’s for power.
“He can say “Yoruba Ronu” to woo Yoruba ethnocentrists, but he can also say “One Nigeria” if he wants. I don’t know if this person has ever had a single true friendship in the last 30 years unless there is some kind of political influence or benefit to be had.
“Bianca is a ‘nobody’ within SE’s political structure. But remember, the APC is currently governors in two states in the South East and all three senators are from Ebonyi, two from Imo and one from Abia; It is the birthplace of Vice-Chairman Benjamin Kalu and will soon be home to the Bola Tinubu University of Nigerian Languages.
“Also remember that Bola Tinubu/APC won more votes in the South-East than Atiku Abubakar/PDP, which means “It’s South’s turn/If you’re not Obi and not Fulani, Tinubu Let them vote.”
“Therefore, Bianca has no chance of swaying voters, but she doesn’t need to. She is just part of a larger plan to provide a pretext for APCNEC (APC/INEC) rigging.”
