The Environmental Society of Nigeria (NES) has planned to hold this year’s annual national conference and general meeting at the Center of Excellence in Lagos State tagged “EKO 2024”.
The 33rd National Conference of the Environmental Society of Nigeria aims to examine global environmental challenges and mitigate countermeasures to ensure a sustainable environment and economic growth in Nigeria.

“The 33rd National Conference and General Meeting of Shareholders is scheduled to be held from October 30 to November 1 in Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria,” he said.
Dr. Okobia said that apart from the main theme of the conference, there would be other sub-themes that would be discussed during the technical sessions to consider key issues on cross-cutting environmental sustainability challenges.
The President also said the conference aimed to consider the realities, alignments and contradictions in global action to limit environmental degradation and its impact on sustainable development in the Global South. .
He further emphasized that the society is committed to advocacy and action towards environmental protection and the promotion of the environmental profession within Nigeria and on the global stage.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Management, conservation and protection of environmental resources in the world’s new and innovative technologies for sustainable development”.
The association is the largest environmental association in sub-Saharan Africa and is internationally recognized with over 30 chapters in 36 states in Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory.
