The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Dele Momodu, has opined that former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, is embarrassing the opposition party alongside Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
Momodu made this known in an interview with Channels TV, where he spoke about the ongoing crisis within the party.
Naija News reported that Mr. Fayose described the crisis rocking the PDP as embarrassing.
He said suspensions and counter-suspensions by various factions of the PDP at the national leadership level had brought the party to a new low.
Fayose said only miraculous divine intervention could bring the party back together.
Reacting, Momodu alleged that the Fayose group led by Wike was causing embarrassment to the party.
He said it was shameful for Wike to work for the ruling party especially when he is supposed to work as an opposition party.
Momodu said: “It is correct that he (Ayo Fayose) is embarrassed, but who is causing that embarrassment?” They are members of a group led by FCT Minister and former Governor Nyesom Wike. So, if you feel embarrassed, you know what to do. I have never seen a situation where opposition members openly, shamelessly and voluntarily work for the ruling party. We are supposed to be an opposition party, but I heard you say that Acting Speaker Umar Damagun has been suspended. A faction suspended him, and he suspended the faction for saying they would use the police against the faction. When did the PDP become the military wing of Nigeria when it came to using force against its members? What gives us the authority to release our security forces? It’s very unfortunate for our party.”
