“Today’s events mark a significant step forward in our collective resolve to redefine ourselves as a people and thereby enhance our country’s image and reputation on the world stage.
“NRMG is committed to increasing global awareness of our dear country by showcasing and highlighting our true identity, achievements, strengths and positives, while amplifying the voices of our diverse people.” It will play a vital role in promoting and changing the world,” Idris declared at the unveiling ceremony. formula.
Idris stressed that Nigeria’s national brand has long been undervalued as a key asset, even though the global perception of Nigeria has a direct impact on its economic and diplomatic fortunes.
He cited countries like Japan, which was ranked the world’s top nation brand in the Nation Brand Index in 2023, as an example of how a well-managed image can promote trade, investment and tourism. .
“A strong national brand attracts talent, tourists and investors, and this combination stands to further strengthen our country and attract even more positive elements.
“The reverse is also true, with a weak national brand discouraging investment and human resources, depriving countries of what they need for development, and further weakening the perception of brand quality, an unfortunate scenario.
“It is therefore important for Nigeria to take its national brand very seriously,” he said.
He said the NRMG will focus on expanding Nigeria’s cultural and creative industries, especially the globally recognized music, literature and film sectors.
Mr. Idris stressed that while these cultural exports have already captured the world’s attention, more efforts are needed to leverage these strengths to enhance Nigeria’s overall image.
NRMG aims to bring together stakeholders from government, the private sector, civil society, and the media to promote a unified, positive narrative.
The initiative also seeks to engage Nigeria’s vibrant diaspora community and leverage their influence in shaping perceptions abroad.
