The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has advised the All Progressives Congress (APC) to clean up its assembly before fielding a gubernatorial candidate in the 2026 elections.
The party stated this in response to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s call for participation in the gubernatorial election.
In an interview with Punch, the PDP Media and Public Relations Manager, Mr. Oladele Bamiji, said the APC first needs to get its internal structure in place before it can plan to topple Governor Ademola Adeleke.
“We welcome anyone who comes forward, but our advice is for them to get their own house in order first.Voters will decide their fate.
“The people of Osun are watching and they will again pass judgment. The APC should approach the election with clarity and purpose, with a focus on reducing confusion within its ranks.”
Naija News understands that a group on Wednesday called on Mr Oyetola to contest the next governorship election in Osun State.
The group maintained that Mr Oyetola must fight to save the party from an avoidable crisis.
Mr. Oyetola defeated Mr. Ademola Adeleke in 2018 and became Osun State governor on the APC ticket.
However, in the 2022 election, he was re-elected to Adeleke, the People’s Democratic Party candidate, but lost.
