SAMSA has issued a navigation warning to ships in the area, asking them to report any sightings of the floating container as it poses a danger to maritime navigation. Restoration work is still ongoing.

The oil spill affected the penguin population on St. Croix, with 13 penguins living there. A blue penguin rescued by Sunparks and undergoing rehabilitation. One penguin died, but the others have recovered and are expected to be released soon.
