Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kabiru Yahaya Classic, has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Classic was on Thursday after meeting with Zamfara State APC Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, Abdulaziz Yari Political Organisation, Senator Alhaji Lawal M. Liman and other key APC stakeholders in Kaduna. , made this announcement.
The former lawmaker, who represented Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency under PDP from 2019 to 2023, said he defected along with the entire PDP structure in Talata Mafara Local Government Area.
This included 10 out of 11 PDP local government executives and PDP ward heads in the area.
Explaining his reasons for leaving the PDP, Klasik cited the lack of justice and fairness in the management of the party in Zamfara.
He said: “I, Kabiru Yahaya Classic, would like to announce today, Thursday, November 7, 2024, my resignation from the PDP to the Progressive Party, APC.
“I am dissociating from all PDP organizations in the Talata Mafara Local Government Area, including the PDP Local Government EXCO and 10 of the 11 Ward Heads of the PDP.”
The state APC chairman, Mr Tukur Umar Danfulani, who welcomed the former lawmaker, said his departure from the party was a welcome development for the APC.
“I am delighted to welcome my brother to our wonderful party. This is a great development.
“More defectors from the PDP-led government in Zamfara are poised to join APC soon.”
“We guarantee fair treatment for the classics and all defectors in the APC,” Danfulani said.
