Liam Payne, a British singer known worldwide as a former member of the boy band One Direction, has died at the age of 31.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reported that the singer was found dead after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
According to Buenos Aires police, the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday at a hotel on Calle Costa Rica in the Palermo district.
The singer accidentally fell from the third floor of a hotel in the city and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pablo Policicchio, director of communications for Buenos Aires’ security ministry, confirmed the incident and said Payne jumped from the balcony of his hotel room.
Police were called to the hotel after 5pm local time after receiving an emergency call. The hotel manager reported that Mr. Payne was acting erratically and may be under the influence of drugs.
Payne joined One Direction in 2010 at the age of 16.
The group became the world’s biggest boy band after appearing on “The X Factor” in 2010. The band disbanded in 2015.
In June 2021, the singer opened up about his struggle with alcohol and prescription drug addiction while on tour with One Direction.
He also revealed that at one point he experienced severe suicidal thoughts.
Recently, reports surfaced that Payne’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry had pressured him into having an abortion and called off their engagement.
