The Osun State Former Members of Parliament Forum (OSHA), an affiliate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on the party leadership to demarcate the 2026 governorship election in Osun West Senatorial District.
In a communiqué signed by the Forum’s Secretary, Ajibola Akinloye, and 14 other members, the group lamented the marginalization of Osun West in the party’s governorship race since 1999.
“We implore that a gubernatorial ticket be allocated to the Western Senate District, which, unlike the other two senatorial districts, has never won a gubernatorial ticket in the Progressive Party since 1999. ” says the communiqué.
According to a report by Naija News, the group stressed its commitment to equity, justice and equity, insisting that the time has come to give Osun West the opportunity to field the APC gubernatorial candidate.
Support for Adegboyega Oyetola
While defending Osun West, the forum pledged allegiance to APC leader and Minister of Oceans and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, acknowledging his influence and leadership within the party.
“Our agitation/demand is subject to the decision of our leader, His Excellency, Gboyega Oyetola, who has the right of first refusal of the APC governorship ticket,” the communiqué added.
The former members expressed confidence in Mr. Oyetola’s judgment and reiterated their readiness to support his political decisions.
The forum also called on the APC leadership to commence party activities from polling units to the state level without delay, stressing the need to regain power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the coming elections.
“Party activities should begin immediately from the polling bodies to the state level to oust the state ruling party (PDP) from power by 2026,” the communiqué said.
