Former Sports and Youth Development Minister Bolaji Abdullahi has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Naija News reported that his decision was communicated in his resignation letter dated December 16, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ubadawaki, Kwara State.
The former minister confirmed his move to TheCable on Monday, saying he has not yet decided on his next political affiliation.
“What we will do and where we will go will be decided in the future. It is up to God,” Abdullahi said.
In his resignation letter, he said the decision was “difficult” but necessary after a period of reflection and self-evaluation.
The letter read: “I am writing to formally resign as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“I have had ample time to reflect and have come to the difficult conclusion that this is the only viable option for me at this time.
“Mr. Chairman, I would like to express my gratitude through you to the party leadership for giving me the opportunity to serve the state and the country in accordance with the party’s platform and for sharing some wonderful moments with me.”
Mr. Abdullahi previously ran as a PDP candidate in the 2023 Kwara Central Senatorial District election, but lost to Mr. Salihu Mustapha of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
