Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju on Friday slammed Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, describing him as a “serial traitor”.
He also caused controversy when he said that Nigerian singer Portable is “better” than Wike in terms of loyalty.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference in Abuja, Adeyanju accused Wike of betraying key political allies, including former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Rivers State governors Peter Odili and Rotimi Amaechi. .
Wike, who was recently appointed FCT Minister by President Tinubu, has been under fire for his political maneuvering and alliances, especially since he switched allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to support Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) government. facing intense scrutiny.
According to Mr. Adeyanju, “Wike has never worked anywhere. He went from being a tout at a car repair shop to becoming a local government chairman but he has betrayed the people.
“The only difference between Wyke and Portable is that Portable doesn’t betray anyone who helps him, but Wyke betrays everyone who helps him. Wyke betrays Goodluck Jonathan, betrays his wife, He betrayed Rotimi Amaechi, he betrayed Peter Odili and the people who helped him.
“Is it Tinubu who won’t betray you? Tinubu is also not that dull, he is politically savvy and knows. He is just using a long spoon to deal with you, against Wike. There’s nothing you can do to be safe.”
The activist lawyer also accused the minister of deceiving and sabotaging former Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi.
“Typical Wike. Just like he tricked Peter Obi, Obi kept coming to him but tried to sabotage him behind his back,” he added.
This was after Mr. Wike criticized Mr. Adeyanju for vandalism in the capital.
Mr Wike, who spoke to newsmen on Wednesday, said Mr Adeyanju was unemployed and that was the reason he became an activist.
The former Rivers governor claimed that Mr. Adeyanju had begged him for the role of Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but was turned down.
