The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has rubbished claims that the results of last Saturday’s Ondo State governorship election, which saw Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa return to office, were influenced by President Bola Tinubu. .
Mr. Ganduje, speaking at the APC National Secretariat on Wednesday during the governor’s visit, said residents of Ondo State voted en masse for Mr. Ayedatiwa in all 18 local governments.
He highlighted the overwhelming support for the APC, noting that it had won 202 out of 203 wards in the state.
Ganduje acknowledged that the victory was due to the governor’s achievements during his term and the effective mobilization of party organizations at all levels.
He called on Ayedatiwa to maintain its developmental path and continue to strengthen APC’s presence in the state.
In his address, Governor Ayedatiwa thanked the people of Ondo State for their support and the APC leadership for their confidence in his administration.
He reiterated his determination to fulfill his campaign promises and promote unity within the party.
Ganduje said: “There was no underground support from any quarter. There was no external influence from the government, the president or any other external forces. Elections are not just an effort of the elites. It is not just an effort of the middle class. It is also a grassroots effort.
“This must be an issue on everyone’s mind. You enjoyed the support of the voters of the state. You must congratulate yourself on this landslide victory. I know Ondo people are progressive. They will cooperate with you.”
