The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the resilience of Ghanaians in defending democracy and ensuring victory for their will in the presidential elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Naija News reports that Ghanaians voted in the presidential election on Saturday, returning the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and President John Mahama to power.
Reacting to this, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, in a statement on Monday, said the victory of the opposition NDC marks the victory of the power of the people against the mismanagement and repressive policies of the government currently being witnessed in Nigeria. He said it was clear proof. The corrupt, rudderless and insensitive All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the PDP spokesperson, the verdict of the Ghanaian people in this presidential election is a signal that the APC’s term is numbered, as it will ensure that the power of the people will prevail in Nigeria as well as in Ghana.
He said Nigerians would end the repressive rule of the APC and return Nigeria to the path of good governance, security, political stability and economic prosperity based on the platform of the PDP in 2027.
“It is unacceptable that the APC has spent the past nine and a half years destroying our property and opening our country to terrorists, resulting in the murder of over 65,000 Nigerians. Destroying the creative capacity of our youth. Our naira has plummeted from about 197 naira under PDP to nearly 2,000 naira to the dollar, and the inflation rate is 34%. Our productive sector has been paralyzed and our unemployment rate has exceeded 40%.We have mortgaged our country’s future with reckless debt and reduced the price of petrol from 97 naira per liter today. It has pushed through repressive policies such as raising prices by over N1,000, leaving millions of Nigerians in dire straits where they are unable to afford daily meals and other basic necessities.
“It is also difficult for Nigerians to accept that the country, once a preferred destination for international foreign investment capital, is ranked as one of the world’s fastest growing economies under the PDP. Our once prosperous country was brought to ruin by the APC due to dilapidated infrastructure, coma, and economic deterioration due to insecurity and social instability caused by poorly conceived and poorly implemented macroeconomic policies. It’s uncertainty,” he said.
Ologunagba noted that while Nigerians are being subjected to dire hardships, what is even more distressing is the apathy and lack of accountability of APC leaders. They arrogantly treat Nigerians as if they were a conquered people, while imposing harsh taxes and recklessly plundering the national treasury to feed their lavish appetites and consumption.
He said major multinational corporations are now leaving the country in droves and Nigerians, especially the youth, are resorting to suicide and slave labor abroad as alternatives due to the APC’s tremendous mismanagement and insensitivity. He pointed out that the more people live there, the more unbearable their lives become.
“Nigerians now fondly recall and fervently seek the return of the PDP’s golden days in government as our only hope for survival, and to bring our dreams, aspirations and collective will as a people to victory. .
“PDP, therefore, urges all government institutions, especially the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies, to heed the aspirations of Nigerians and ensure that only the will of the people prevails in elections. “We urge you to ensure that all processes are in place,” he added.
The PDP said INEC must bear in mind that Nigerians are not ready for a repeat of large-scale manipulation and perversion of the electoral process as witnessed in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections. said.
The main opposition parties called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in their resolve to end the repressive rule of the APC and re-establish good governance based on the platform of the PDP by 2027.
