Ismael Ahmed, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state, said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and President Bola Tinubu would have easily lost the 2023 presidential election. Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi has united in the election.
Naija News reported that Mr. Ahmed disclosed this during an interview with Nigerian journalist Seun Okinbaloyi on the podcast “Mic On”.
This comes amid speculation that Peter Obi and Atiku will form a strong political party through a coalition to defeat President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Asked if he was concerned about the possibility of an opposition coalition, Mr. Ahmed answered in the affirmative, saying God forbid that the two opposition leaders should come together in 2027.
The APC leader said he did not take the potential threat as a joke, adding that if Atiku and Obi unite, the ruling party could lose the 2027 elections.
Some of his words read: I would never consider a potential threat as a joke in politics. And if you look at Atiku and Obi’s votes in 2023, they could have easily lost the election had they combined. God forbid they gather together. ”
