Radipo Johnson, national propaganda secretary of the People’s Party of New Nigeria (NNPP), said Governor Aba Yusuf and Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso remain members of the party.
Naija News reports that Johnson has said that only Ajuji Ahmed-led faction, recognized by the Independent National Election Commission (INEC), is entitled to speak for the party.
In an interview with News Central on Monday, a spokesman for the NNPP said that Boniface Aniebonam, one of the party’s founders, is responsible for his suspension.
Johnson argued that only Ahmed-led NNPP could stop Governor Kano and former presidential candidate Kwankwaso.
He further revealed that party leaders have suspended Aniebonam after attempting to reject the party’s National Enforcement Council (NEC) decision.
He said: “INEC, for discussion, INEC has an NNPP. Like Dr. AjujiAhmed, he serves as Chairman Ladipo Johnson as the NNPP, the NNPP, the NNPP. That’s what the law today is. The party has not expelled or halted Aba Kabir Yusuf or Rabbi Musa Kwankwaso. The parties recognized by the Constitution and Election Act are those registered by the INEC. It has to be, right? So they’re not a party, but a group, whatever you want to call them.
“Dr. Boniface Aniebonam was one of the founders of the NNPP. Kwankwaso, Bubagaradim, Radipo Johnson and et cetera were only involved in 2022. One year before the 2023 election, the issue began. We have reached the stage that Dr. Aniebonam just said. I am the founder and have rejected the decision of the NEC or the National Working Committee. And we said, no, stopped him. Even Kwankwanso didn’t know he was going to be stopped. That’s how we got into trouble.
