The Rivers State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Okocha, has said Mr Nyesom Wike’s demand for Governor Siminalaya Hubala is his right.
Mr Okocha said Rivers State Governor Mr Hubala owed the utmost respect and loyalty to Minister Wike of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Naija News reports that former Intelligence Secretary in the Wike administration, Austin Tamgeorge, has accused the former governor of planning to privatize the state.
In an interview with News Central on Wednesday, Mr Okocha maintained that Wike’s demands on Hubala were consistent with the investment in Hubala.
He said Hubala was a public servant, but Wike decided to give him political relevance. He pointed out that the FCT Minister paid all of Mr. Hubala’s political expenses during the 2023 general elections.
“The current governor did not have a political background initially. I would say he has been a public servant all his life. He reminded Nigeria that it was not because he did not get enough votes, but because he did not resign properly.
“He was about to quit the civil service. So, he resigned from the civil service and was matched with 14 other candidates, PDP aspirants whose forms were bought and then became the party’s candidate. And everything that happened, the campaign, the election, the campaign, the sabotage, the then Governor of Rivers State, now the FCT. It is possible because of him as a Minister. And it is an investment, a political investment by Wike. So if you have ever invested, this is elementary. , if you’ve ever invested, wouldn’t you care?
“Is it foolish to care about what your investment will bring? That is the question. On the other hand, the Rivers State governor is Wike’s political investment. He always says, ‘My Ogre, my The ogre,” he said. It shows that he has no business in government except that someone groomed him and made him governor of Rivers State. That’s one point,” he said.
The APC chairman also accused Governor Nunohara of failing to abide by the law and court decisions.
"Another point is the fact that the governor is refusing to follow the law. He will abide by the law. He is sticking to the judicial rulings,” he added.
