The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adesina has been crowned the new queen of the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, beating out 25 other contestants from different states in Nigeria.
After winning, Adesina will represent Nigeria in the 2024 Miss Universe pageant to be held in Mexico.
Mr Mba, who received Ms Adesina, an indigene of Amuri in Nkanu West Parliamentary Area of Enugu, at the Enugu Government House, said her stubbornness was indicative of the innate quality of the people of Enugu State.
The governor said the beauty queen proved that with determination, young people can achieve their goals.
“I am very happy to congratulate and welcome you to my homeland. I am proud to have you as a daughter of Enugu State.
“Your story is inspiring. It shows that despite all attempts to defame and bring you down, you have proven yourself to be a true daughter of Enugu State.
“You all overcame these challenges with the grit and resilience that the people of Enugu State are known for.
“With the stature and achievements you have achieved today, you can make a huge impact on our youth, especially girls,” Mba said.
He added that his administration's investments in education were driven by the need to enable young people to reach their full potential.
The governor assured Adetsina of the support and goodwill of the people of the state as she competes in the Miss Universe international pageant to be held in Mexico.
In response, Mr. Adesina thanked the government and people of Enugu State and Nigeria for their warm welcome and love.
She praised Mr Mba for prioritizing education and pledged to work with the country to mentor and encourage young people as a brand ambassador.
“It has been a great experience coming to Nigeria. I feel accepted and loved. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your great work.”
She lived in South Africa but had to withdraw from the Miss South Africa competition due to her lack of acceptance and the storm caused by her participation, but said Nigeria picked her up.
She expressed her readiness to be a beacon of hope for young people, especially young women.
“My name is Chidinma, so they said I wasn’t South African enough and in the final week of the competition, there was so much backlash that I had to withdraw for the safety of myself and my family. I didn’t.
“After I declined, I received an invitation from Silverbird and I accepted the invitation to compete in Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 and was able to win.
“I really feel that my story is very powerful, not just in Nigeria but around the world. I think many young people can relate to my story and learn from my journey,” she said. Ta.
