Rivers State Governor Siminalai Hubala has approved the establishment of two new judicial branches in the state High Court.
In a notification dated November 8, 2024, the governor approved the establishment of the Abua Judicial Department in Abua Oduar Local Government Area and the Bonny Judiciary Department in Bonny Local Government Area.
A statement from the Chief Registrar of the High Court, David Ifua-Maduenyi, said the approval was in accordance with the recommendation of the Chief Justice of Rivers State, Justice Simone Chibuzor-Amadi, under Section 39(2) of the High Courts Act. was confirmed. , Cap 62, River State Laws of 2021.
The statement further said that the start date of the two new judicial branches will be December 2, 2024, according to the written notification.
These two branches bring the total number of judicial branches in the state to 14.

Meanwhile, Hubala announced plans to submit the 2025 budget to the state House of Assembly, led by Victor Oko Jumbo.
