The Chairman, Board of Directors (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adolphus Wabara, has expressed disappointment at the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja that ordered the withholding of statutory allocations to the Rivers State government.
Naija News reported on Wednesday that Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja declared that the presentation of the 2024 Budget by Governor Siminalai Hubala in the four-member Rivers House of Assembly is inconsistent with the provisions of the Constitution. Reported.
She criticized Mr. Hubala’s continued receipt and use of monthly federal allocations since January, saying this is a constitutional violation that should not be tolerated.
Judge Abdulmalik further ruled that Hubbara’s use of the unauthorized budget amounted to a serious violation of the 1999 Constitution.
In response, Mr. Wabara in an interview with Vanguard said the judgment was an act of judicial insensitivity and an invitation to anarchy, saying the judges had gone crazy and the judiciary had failed Nigeria.
Wabara recalled how he spoke to President Bola Tinubu about intervening in the political crisis in Rivers State, noting that it could engulf Nigeria if not stopped.
The former Senate President also said that the river allotment was for the development of the state and not for Governor Hubala, adding that following the court ruling, the youth in the state should return to the streams accordingly. He added that you might want to.
He said, “However, with these deliberate orders and judgments, INEC would have held elections to replace the 27 members who constitutionally lost their seats.”
“These judges have gone crazy. Nigeria is gone! Nigeria has failed its judiciary. As far as I am concerned, Nigeria is gone!
“Can they (judges) also issue an order to stop apportionment for justice?
“I had earlier advised President Tinubu to intervene personally to stop the chaos in Rivers State because if it is not stopped, this crisis in Rivers State could engulf Nigeria.
“Are they aware that the Rivers allocation is not for Governor Siminalai Hubala but for the development of the whole state? And what that essentially means is that the workers will be given wages. will not be paid and government operations will be suspended. Did the judge think about the synergistic effect on the peace and security of the country?
“I am not a lawyer but I believe that certain judgments should follow logic and not just someone sitting and giving an unjust judgment. This judgment will only blight Rivers State and by doing so People may want to return to the stream, leading to anarchy and backlash.
“By the time we stop the source of the money that Nigeria collects every month to share, the entire country will have no income to share again. Why should we take that risk?
“It hurts. I cry for this country. This is not the democracy we all expected. The CJN should step up its efforts to ask the judges for orders. Just a few days ago, If we invite them to reprimand them and this is happening, it means there is no hope for this country.”
