The Labor Party (LP) Youth Leader in Ondo State, Hon. Samuel Boniface has claimed that certain politicians tried to sway him with an offer of N100 million to collapse the LP organization into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the next election.
In an interview with DAILY POST, Mr. Boniface claimed that he had turned down huge offers from prominent figures in the PDP, saying he stands by his principles and has no intention of betraying the party.
He said: “As the state youth leader of the Labor Party, some PDP officials contacted me three weeks ago and asked me to collapse the Labor Party organization into their party. I asked him to specify the amount, but I refused because I have a goal. I have my own future. I can’t sell my conscience like that.
“I also told them that I would never betray my followers and the party. They did the same thing when I ran for Congress in 2023, but I would rather lose the election than sell my conscience. I said it was better.
“They are doing everything they can to buy this structure. They are ready to offer any amount. But I strongly believe that if we stand our ground, they will not succeed. I believe everyone is tired of both APC and PDP.”
Boniface, who supports LP Chairman Remilekun Ojo, rejected recent media statements claiming that candidate Olusola Ebiseni was disqualified by the Court of Appeal.
He said: “The reports we are seeing on social media are a big lie. It is very unfortunate because the court has already struck out this case and the parties have resolved this matter out of court.”
Boniface said the party plans to take legal action against media outlets that spread rumors of disqualification.
He said, “We have decided to sue some newspapers who reported that our candidate has been delisted. If you check the INEC portal, you will see our candidate there. So who is he? Did you delete it?
“With the election just two days away, this kind of reporting is confusing, so we are suing the newspaper.
“Why would they claim that our candidate has been removed from the race? They have no evidence to support it.”
He further stated that Mr. Festus Olorunfemi, who had initially raised concerns, had formally resigned on behalf of Mr. Ebiseni and that he had received £5 million from Mr. Ebiseni and a further 2 million from the national chairman, along with records and receipts evidencing these transactions. It was revealed that he received compensation of 1,000 pounds.
“I can assure you that everything is completely intact. We will not be fooled by this misleading news,” Boniface told supporters.
