The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Council of Rivers State, Ifunwo Chijoke, has predicted that Governor Siminalai Fubala will face significant challenges as he seeks re-election in 2027.
Speaking at the Akpor Unity Forum, a socio-political group in Obio/Akpor, Ifunwo said the upcoming elections were a battle not just for the political future of Hubara but for “the very soul and resources of the nation.”
He acknowledged that some may abandon Tomihara for personal reasons and stressed the need for unity and loyalty among the governor’s supporters.
He said: “We are aware that some of those currently supporting Mr Hubala will leave us by the time of the next general election in 2027, perhaps for personal and selfish reasons. I urge you to remain unwaveringly loyal to my leadership, as my leadership’s priority is Rivers State and its people. Please deliver it to every corner of the Akpur Kingdom.”
Mr Ifunwo, in a statement by Chief Press Secretary Ofonime Okon, promised to bring members of the group into the running of the council, hinting at the possibility of their appointment as aides or commissioners to facilitate the development of local councils. did.
“As a government, you can take it for granted that we include you in the activities of the council, whether it be through appointments as aides or committees designed to promote the development of the council. It can be in any form, whether it be appointment as a member of the board,” Ifunwo asserted.
