India on Friday announced the 15-man squad for the four-match T20I series against South Africa. Suryakumar Yadav will continue to lead the team in the shortest format, but there are some changes in the composition of the squad that played three T20Is against Bangladesh.
Mayank Yadav and Shivam Dube could not take part in the selection due to injuries. Mayank made his debut for India last month, while Dube was part of India’s World Cup-winning squad this summer. Riyan Parag, who is working on a long-term solution to a chronic right shoulder injury, has also been ruled out, according to a statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Another notable absentee is Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has been called up to India’s Test squad for the tour of Australia in late November.
Among the new names added to the squad from the Bangladesh series is Axar Patel, who is currently part of the Test squad against New Zealand. Karnataka’s Vijaykumar Vishak was part of Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL winning team, as was Ramandeep Singh, who is now part of India A, which is part of the Emerging Asia Cup. He received his first call-up.
