The growing demand for innovative technology-driven solutions in Africa is evident in recent corporate advances and government policies. However, a key factor in the success and growth of startups across the continent remains access to timely funding and strong support from stakeholders in the startup ecosystem.
Limited public information about Africa’s dynamic startup environment in different regions often deters investors. This problem is exacerbated by large gaps in startup investment readiness support programs (competency training), primarily due to limited pre-investment exposure and communication with potential investors.
In 2023, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) launched the Meet the Toshikas (meaning “Investors” in Japanese) program through the African Sustainable Finance Hub. The initiative, with promotional funding from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), will help African startups maximize the potential of their ecosystem, address their capital needs and access growth opportunities. We aim to make it possible to develop.
