The Kano state branch of All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected membership of Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development.
In a statement issued on Monday, Abdullahi Abbas, chairman of the APC in Kano State, said they were unaware of Ata’s appointment as pastors and were not a member of the party prior to the reported appointment.
Naija News reported in an interview with BBC Hausa that Abbas said this while responding to Swipe Yusuf Abdullahi Ata recently.
Ata previously threatened to leave the APC if he and his supporters were to resurrect Abdullahi Abbas or someone like him were resurrected as chairman of the state party.
The minister argued that Abbas’s remarks were one of the reasons God took power from the party despite a clear victory in the 2023 gubernatorial election.
However, in a quick response, Abbas claimed that during the 2023 election, the ATA opposed the party and told the same to President Bora Ahmed Tinubu.
He said: “For US APC members, Yusuf Ata is not a member of the APC. I don’t even know why he was appointed minister. In the entire Kano state, his region was ranked third in the 2023 election. It was only in local governments.
“We didn’t know that he was appointed minister. We told the president he was not a member of our party. He had an anti-party. He was He’s just a local champion.”
