Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli said it took four months to bring Victor Osimhen to Napoli from Lille during his time at the club in 2020.
The signing of the 25-year-old has never been in jeopardy for suitors since he declared himself one of the world’s most reputed strikers at Lille. He scored 13 goals in 27 games for Lille in 2019-2020.
Coach Giuntoli, who beat out other suitors and brought Osimhen to Napoli for around 75 million euros, revealed his dissatisfaction at the time in a conversation with Corriere della Sera newspaper, saying that Napoli had signed Osimhen for a year in Africa before joining Galatasaray on loan. He added that the best player should have been sold.
“I can say that the most difficult transfer operation in my career was Victor Osimhen. While I worked at Napoli, I worked for his transfer for almost four months. Perhaps he was previously sold But Aurelio is an intelligent and astute entrepreneur. I owe him a lot. I love him,” Guntoli said.
The Nigerian was Napoli’s hero and, together with Kvaratschelia, made the dream of winning the club’s third Scudetto, their first in over 30 years, come true.
After four eventful seasons in which he was crowned Serie A top scorer with 26 goals in his penultimate season, it wasn’t the best of times for the attacker to reject offers from England and Arabia. Both sides parted ways. He will accept a loan to Galatasaray to avoid being left out of the squad until January.
Despite the complications of the first contract, Guntoli’s love for Osimhen has not waned in the slightest, with Tuttosport recently confirming that his current employers Juventus will bring the player to Turin in the near future. However, the move was based on the assumption that Napoli would significantly lower his contract fee. Suggested price.
Osimhen, meanwhile, is living out his Galatasaray dreams and is looking forward to scoring his first goal after providing four assists in his first three games as Turkish Super Lig champions.
The club are very pleased with his performances on and off the pitch and appear keen to extend his stay at the club beyond June, when his season-long loan ends.
