Ikwano Umuahia constituency MP Obi Aguocha said he was open to forming a coalition if it contributed to Labor’s success.
Labor MPs have said they support plans to merge the party with other like-minded groups to save the country from the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
He said this in an interview with Arise TV on Monday.
Aguocha recalled that the APC was a coalition government formed to wrest power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He emphasized that what is important is to save the country from its current situation. He decried the insecurity, destitution, hunger and unemployment faced by the people on a daily basis due to the policies of the APC government.
“We are a political platform. We are interested in the wrestling power from the APC so that we can restore hope and opportunity to Nigerians. To be able to wake up in the morning without falling into a situation where children go to school and have no gainful employment opportunities. No one is happy, even the APC people are not happy with the current situation in Nigeria. ” he said.
Speaking about coalition government, the Abia State lawmaker continued, “If we have to form a coalition government to ensure that we are adequately equipped to achieve political success, why not?” After all, the APC was a coalition that subscribed to the ideology of wresting power from the PDP.
“So if the Labor Party is going to unite with like-minded Nigerians who are committed and determined to do the right thing in Nigeria for once, why not? I don’t think so.”
