Ondo State Labor Party (LP) gubernatorial candidate, Olusola Ebiseni, has declared the upcoming November 16 Ondo State gubernatorial election a fierce contest between his party and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
On Thursday, just two days before the election, Mr Ebiseni appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today and denied the influence of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that the main battle would be between the Labor Party and the APC. .
He also downplayed the possibility of PDP candidate Agboola Ajayi running, noting that Ajayi, a former deputy governor, does not pose a major threat to Labor’s momentum.
“This election will be a contest between two political parties and their governments,” he said.
“There is no PDP in this election. This election will be contested between the Labor Party and the APC. Mr. Agboola Ajayi of the PDP became the first deputy governor of Akeredolu. Mr. Ayedatiwas of the APC served Akeredolu for two terms. He is the current deputy governor and is currently the current governor.
“If you want to evaluate their credibility and performance, you will evaluate them and you will evaluate the Akeredolu government and the role they played.”
Mr. Ebiseni did not give a clear answer when asked if he had the support of former Ondo governor, Mr. Olusegun Mimiko, to run for governorship.
In fact, he has maintained a good relationship with Mimiko for more than 20 years and describes the former governor as a friend.
“It is not a matter for me to argue, Olusegun Mimiko is not against me, there is no Mimiko against me,” he said.
Commenting on his chances in the election campaign, Ebiseni said his experience as a former local government chairman and commissioner under the Mimiko administration makes him suitable for the job.
Meanwhile, the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has disqualified Mr. Ebiseni as the Labor candidate for the Ondo State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.
In a unanimous decision, the three-man panel headed by Justice Hamma Baruka and handed down by Justice Adebukola Banjoko said: “This appeal is a CA/ABJ/CV brought by the Labor Party against Chief Olusola Ebiseni and two others. /1172/2024.” Allowed. ”
