Labor Party (LP) gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 Bayelsa state election, Udengus Eradiri, has opened up about campaign hurdles and the transactional nature of Nigerian politics.
According to a Naija News report, Eladiri expressed dissatisfaction within the party in an interview with Arise News on Monday, lamenting deep-seated corruption and institutional challenges that hinder meaningful leadership and development.
The LP leader said Nigerians and his party members were not ready for change but were interested in a transactional approach to politics.
he said: “From the people’s side and from the party’s side, they showed me the pepper. I hear that Nigerians are suffering, but if you take the money, Nigerians will forget the suffering. I’ll put it away. I was fooled.
“I think Bayelsans and Nigerians are ready and we did everything we could. I told them clearly, I don’t have the money, but I have the ability to change society and change things. there is.
“From the parties’ side, it’s transactional. People are just getting their act together and figuring out what they can get out of the system, whether it’s the ruling party or people with deep pockets. ”
He also criticized the electoral process, alleging that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was involved in manipulation and systemic problems that disadvantaged candidates like him.
He said: “The Lagos system and the INEC judicial system killed the moral system and that affected those of us involved in the electoral system who did not have deep pockets to throw money around. The code you give to the other party will be sold to the other party.
“Unbeknownst to you, the other party has uploaded an agent on your behalf. When you try it, it won’t work. Those are the trades that were made.”
Reflecting on his current situation, Eladiri acknowledged the toll this experience had taken on him and said his challenges were not unique to LP.
She added, “I’m focused on my practice and working and generating resources and reorganizing myself because I’m trying to raise money and going through that process and I’m confused. ” he added.
“Such shenanigans exist in all political parties, but once they reach a certain level, they can be dealt with.
“Human beings can overcome all of those parties because there is probably a structure that will find them no matter what happens.”
