The Lagos State Attorney-General and Attorney-General, Lawal Pedro (SAN), has announced that he has received the toxicology report and other forensic analyzes conducted in the United States on the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohabado.
Mr. Pedro confirmed at a press conference held at the Ministry of Justice conference room in Alausa that the autopsy report has now been submitted to the pathologist and coroner judge in Lagos State.
The press conference was part of a series of events commemorating his first year in office and upcoming strategic stakeholder meetings.
The Commissioner also acknowledged delays in the investigation due to the time required for a thorough forensic process. “Regarding the Mokhbad case, yes, I agree that there was a delay. The delay was due to the time the investigation took,” he said.
He further explained that comprehensive investigative procedures, including forensic analysis and toxicology, are essential to securing the evidence needed to secure a conviction in any case brought to court.
“Forensic science, analysis, toxicology, all of this is part of the investigation. The investigation of the complete evidence that could at least lead to a conviction in the case presented to the court,” Pedro said.
The Attorney General also revealed that the toxicology tests had to be conducted in the United States due to the destruction of the DNA and Forensic Science Center in Lagos during the #EndSARS protests in October 2020.
