Governor Hyacinth Aria of Benue State has said that the Senate Minority Leader, Mr. Abba Moro (PDP/Benue South), has misinformed the people about the recently concluded elections in the state.
He criticized the lawmaker for calling the election a sham and a sham.
Through a statement by Chief Spokesperson Telsu Kura, the governor maintained that the elections were held in strict accordance with democratic principles and existing electoral laws.
He said Moro’s attempts to portray the election as a sham were rooted in known personal vendettas rather than genuine concern for the democratic process.
“The elections were conducted by the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) and were widely recognized as reliable and free from violence.
“Their collective action, as usual, appears to be serving the singular purpose of discrediting the current pro-people government in Benue rather than addressing the needs and concerns of the electorate.
“Furthermore, that perverse act on the floor of the Sacred Chamber once again mirrored their known pattern of betrayal.
“This is not the first time Mr. Moro and his colleagues in the state have tried to undermine the government,” he said.
The governor noted that Benue members and colleagues need to realize that their actions are alienating their constituents.
“It is vital for these politicians to reflect on their roles and the trust placed in them.
“A sincere apology to voters and a commitment to serve rather than sabotage could be the path to restoring them to their proper positions,” he added.
