The All Progressives Congress (APC) Public Relations Manager, Bala Ibrahim, said members of the Labor Party were defecting to the ruling party to learn how the game of politics is played.
Bala Ibrahim said that the acquisition of power is central in politics and for all politicians. He noted that the APC provides a platform to engage politicians and achieve their political goals.
He said this in an interview with News Central on Sunday. He stressed that the APC government had made every effort to bestow the benefits of democracy on Nigerians.
“Positions of power are very central in politics. Everyone who works in politics does so with an ambition. That ambition is to change people’s lives. It is to seize or gain power in order to implement his or his party’s plans.
“So APC as a party is now in power at the center and the government is doing everything possible to change the narrative and ensure that the people enjoy the benefits of democracy.
“In the struggle of these other political parties, including the Labor Party, they join the APC for many reasons. One is to learn the tricks of the game and two is to understand the platform and methods that their party prefers to them. “It is to know how their mission and ambitions can be achieved through the party's policies and programs because they may not be able to do so,” he said.
Mr. Ibrahim explained that the mission of the APC is to provide good governance, quality education, address unemployment and provide a good life for Nigerians.
When asked if the party had delivered on its mission to Nigerians since taking over from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015, APC leaders said it was too early to pass a fair judgment on the party’s performance. He said that.
“APC is a progressive party. It is based on an ambition for progress. It is rooted in the movement of giving good dividends to the people. It is about giving people good health, good facilities, good education, It focuses on providing employment and generally changing life narratives.
“The APC has been in power for 10 years now, which is the eight years of the Buhari administration plus nearly two years of the Tinubu administration. If you compare this with the two years of misgovernment of the PDP, it is difficult to make an effective judgment. “It will prove to be premature,” he added.
