The Nigeria@64 Independence Day Golf Tournament began on Tuesday morning with over 250 amateur golfers competing for honors to commemorate the nation’s founding day, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The 18-hole event, hosted by IBB International Golf & Country Club in Abuja, was the last of a six-day program lined up as part of the Independence Day celebrations. Inaugurating the event, the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Hainault, said the club’s annual tournament is one that has consistently brought together a diverse group of people under the umbrella of sport. It was supported by Dame Pauline Talen, former Minister for Women’s Affairs and Social Development, and former Speaker of the House of Commons, John Lauren.
