The foundation, founded by the Mississippi Music and Culture Ambassadors, has donated $25,000 to increase opportunities for students at Cleveland’s Delta Institute of Music (DMI).
The Delta State University Foundation received funding from the Steve Azar St. Cecilia Foundation. In addition to enhancing the student experience, this funding is expected to improve DMI’s resources.
Of the funds provided, $20,000 will be allocated to DMI’s scholarship fund and $5,000 will be used for recording studio technology maintenance, student recruitment events, and guest visits from entertainment industry professionals.
The scholarship fund supports 15 to 20 students each semester, according to DMI Director Richard Tremmel.
“On behalf of our foundation’s board of directors, I am grateful for the opportunity to continue giving to programs that mean so much to me,” Azar said. “My beloved Delta Institute of Music at Delta State University is paving the way for future greats in the music industry. We are the birthplace of it all, and each year we see brighter futures roaming through these halls. We are always happy to support them and this important entertainment industry research program!”
