The Ogun State government has said there is no truth to the allegations made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s 2023 gubernatorial candidate, Ladi Adebutu, against Governor Dapo Abiodun.
According to a Naija News report, Adebutu alleged that Abiodun moved around with armed soldiers and police during Saturday’s local government elections and assaulted residents.
However, the state government in a statement by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, said Mr. Adebutu is a drowning man and is looking for someone to drag him into the abyss with him.
Mr. Akinmade explained that the governor went home immediately after voting and stayed there until the election, after which he decided to return to Ondo State.
He noted that Ogun State has not witnessed any political violence since Abiodun assumed office.
The spokesperson accused Mr. Adebutu of political violence, saying that he illegally brought 40 police officers from MOPOL 49 in Lagos in violation of electoral laws, and that he, along with PDP thugs, used guns, daggers and other dangerous weapons. He added that he tried to assault Mr. Okada, who was walking around with a weapon. Steal the ballot box.
According to Akinmade, one of the polling stations that was invaded was where the Deputy Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Muhamed Efwuape, was going to vote. He was shot dead by police along with one other voter. Enraged voters chased the police, who fled to Adebutu’s house, where they took shelter.
he said: “Instead of allowing the police to pick him up, Sir, Mr. Abebutu helped them escape from their homes, but only four were arrested.
“This person is trying to assume the role of Chief Security Officer of Ogun State, but it is not possible. It is in his own interest to turn himself in and cooperate with law enforcement officials.
“Political activities are on the decline as in reality, the majority of Ogun residents turned out in quorum to exercise their right to vote, but voting was not conducted at some polling stations in the state.” It’s ridiculous for a person to make such a claim.
“Mr. Adebutu, who is a professional clown and once said that it would be a disaster if his running mate became governor, has spewed such evil lies during his litigation at the Election Petitions Tribunal and has reached the Supreme Court. He was brutally flogged for that crime.”
Akinmade went on to describe Adebutu as “a bitter loser who has yet to accept electoral deficits and a polarized political structure.”
