The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Olayde Adelami, has exercised his citizenship during the ongoing gubernatorial election in the state.
Naija News reports that Adelami voted at the designated polling station, Ward 3 Unit 16, Igboroko 2, Owo Local Government Area.
At around 9:40 a.m., Adelami joined the line of voters waiting to be certified, and then alongside her family members, she fulfilled her responsibility to vote.
In a conversation with reporters after participating in the electoral process, the Deputy Governor urged residents of Owo and the wider public of the state to actively participate in the voting process.
“Your vote is your power. I urge you all to go and vote. By doing so, you will be contributing to good governance and the promotion of a greater Ondo State,” Adelami said. he insisted.
He is representing Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Meanwhile, the deputy governorship candidate of the Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Festus Akbaso, has expressed concern over the influx of thugs into Idanre Local Government Area during the governorship election period.
Mr Akingbaso, a member of the House of Representatives, shared his observations with journalists after voting at polling station 005 in Oke Imikan.
While praising the voter turnout and security arrangements at polling stations, Mr Akingbaso said the activities of thugs in the area were causing serious concern.
“While we are impressed with the level of turnout and peaceful behavior at the polling stations so far, the presence and activities of thugs in Idanre is worrying,” Akingbaso said.
He called on security agencies to ensure the safety of voters and election officials in local governments, stressing the need to protect the integrity of the electoral process.
Residents of Idanre have expressed similar concerns and called on the authorities to quickly address the situation to prevent chaos. Security personnel are reportedly on alert and reinforcements have been deployed to maintain peace in the area.
As voting proceeds across Ondo State, stakeholders continue to stress the importance of a credible and peaceful election.
“The turnout is not bad. The turnout is not bad,” Akibaso said. The security situation is not bad either. There are no issues at this time. I would also like to commend INEC because their performance so far has not been bad.
“My advice to voters is that whenever you vote, you should wait in the back and watch until the final results are announced. If everything goes to plan, my party will win.”
